Having acne and needing to shave can present problems and will need to be done in the least irritating way possible. One of the more common things with a person that is prone to acne is called shaving bumps, this is when the hair gets trapped in the follicle and this irritation causes swelling.
There are some things that can be done to keep breakouts and irritation from shaving to a minimum, one of these is to use an electric razor. This will not be as close of a shave for men, but it will also not irritate the skin.
When a regular razor is used, a shaving cream that is thin should be use, like a gel type shaving cream, this will reduce irritation and a single blade razor. The reason a single blade razor should be used rather than a double or triple blade is that those will pull the hair as they move across the skin so that the shave is below the epidermis. This can cause irritation and swelling, because the epidermis will grow over the pore opening, which is where the follicle is located. |
