Almost every medication can have side effects, depending on the person taking or using the medication. Not every person has an allergic reaction to the same medications, and that is also true with acne medications or treatments.
When a person suffers from side effects from a medication or treatment the effects can be things like:
- Headaches
- Photosensitivity
- Rashes
- Dry or chapped skin
There can also be other types of reactions and if this should occur a physician or dermatologist should be called.
One of the medications that might be prescribed for severe acne is an antibiotic; this is because acne is an infection that begins deep under the skin in the hair follicles. This also a type of medication that many people have allergic reactions to and it is included in acne medications that have side effects. The type of antibiotics that many people have a reaction to is penicillin, which is a part of many antibiotics. |
