If you are taking any acne medications and you tend to drink alcohol, then you need to be especially careful. Almost all medications come with warnings not to be taken with alcoholic beverages. There can be some serious adverse effects that can be harmful and in some cases fatal if you do not adhere to these labels. You should be very careful when drinking on acne medications, or any other medications for that matter. In fact, you should completely avoid alcohol altogether. It’s bad for you and your body, and if it becomes coupled with just the right compounds, severe irreversible symptoms can occur. However, some acne medicines may not have any serious interaction with alcohol, and you could safely drink while on that regimen. Just don’t be your own guinea pig, ask a doctor if you would be able to consume anything with alcohol content in addition to the acne compound you are using. For instance, alcohol most probably would not interfere with a topical acne solution, but you may not know until it is too late. Talk to a physician, they spend 8-12 years in school so they can learn about these types of things, and they would know better than you would.
