What is a Chemical Peel? |
A chemical peel is a technique that is used to improve the skin using a chemical solution that causes the skin to blister and will eventually peel. This treatment is also known as chemexfolation or derma-peeling and is used to treat some forms of acne and acne scarring.
When the skin peels off after blistering from a chemical peel, the new skin is smoother and will have less acne scarring, less redness and will also have cleaned all of the dead skin cells from the face. One thing that is important is to limit time in the sun and to use a good sunscreen, because the new skin is tender and can burn easily in the sun.
This is a non surgical way of renewing the skin in order to lessen acne scars and often works well with mild and moderate acne scarring. The largest worry with this type of process is light or dark spots or patches. |
