Comedo is the basic acne lesion, which can include whiteheads and blackheads and is a clogged pore.
This is acne that can also stay under the skin rather than erupt in a blemish, which is then called a closed comedo. When this occurs it will form a white bump on the skin or a whitehead.
Blackheads on the other hand are comedos that are open, and appear on the skin as a pour that has a black color on the skin. This black color on the skin is not dirt in the pore, instead it is excess oil and the air turns it black.
This is often common acne for teenagers and even young adults, which can be treated with different types of treatments that can be found both in non prescription and prescribed medication. The strength of the medication that is needed to treat comedo acne will depend on the severity.
What do Shedding Skin Cells Have to do with Acne?
Shedding skin cells can help to promote acne, because it can clog the pores, which is where the hair follicles are located. This means that it can create whiteheads, lead to black heads and pimples. This is where hygiene can play a role in fighting acne, washing the face with a mild product can help to loosen the shedding cells and this will mean they will not have the time to become clogged in the pores along with the over production of oil that can cause breakouts.
It is not possible to see cells with the naked eye, and although they cannot be seen in their natural form, when they clog pores it will result in a swollen bump or in a pimple. There is no way to reduce the amount of shedding cells, the only way to properly deal with them so that they are not able to cause acne is to remove them from the skin.
