Benzamycin Gel is primarily used for the treatment of severe forms of acne. It may or may not be used in conjunction with other medications for the complete elimination of acne. The medicine has been conceived from a combination of macrolide and keratolytic. The presence of the ingredient macrolide lends the drug with essential anti-bacterial properties. With these properties, the medicine significantly inhibits the further growth of the bacterial infestation on the skin. This effect gradually eliminates the acne causing bacteria outbreak and restores a clearer and smoother skin. The second ingredient, keratolytic, makes the drug an effective drying agent. With this property, the medicine essentially removes the layer of oil and dirt from the skin surface and keeps the skin considerably dry. This effect of the drug creates an unfriendly environment, on the skin surface, for the growth of bacteria.
In addition, the daily application of the medicine breaks down and eliminates the layer of dead cells on the surface of skin. This removal of the dead skin cells unblocks the oily sebaceous glands which get blocked after the production of acne lesions. This action of the drug further contributes towards the reduction of inflammation of this gland and thus the acne.
