You may have a condition that warrants seeing a specialist. If you were unable to find answers and your doctor refers you to a dermatologist, then you’ll need to relay to him all the information that you gave to your regular doctor. The dermatologist will have higher qualifications for diagnosing skin related maladies than your normal physician, and he definitely will have more information about any conditions that you may have. However, he is not a psychic, and you do need to let him know about any vitamins, over the counter medications, and prescription medications. If you don’t give him this information, then he won’t know what he can and can’t give you as part of a treatment regimen. Generally they will ask you what other compounds you are taking, but if they don’t, then make sure that you readily volunteer the information. It just wouldn’t do for you to get medication for your skin condition just to get an adverse reaction due to contraindications between your existing regimen and the newer addition. Always tell any doctors, dermatologists, pharmacists, or any other health practitioner about what you are currently taken, what you have taken in the past, and what you may begin taking in the future.
