What Medical Conditions Can Cause Acne? |
There are various underlying medical conditions that can cause acne. The most common ones are the ones that cause oily skin. Any time there is a sudden onset of oily skin it may be due to a medical condition.
Rosacea is one medical condition that is actually a inflammatory skin condition that can cause acne on the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Rosacea is often confused for adult acne. A medical condition in women called polycystic ovarian syndrome {PCOS) is a hormonal imbalance. One of the first symptoms can be the development of blemishes and outbreaks.
Zanthelasma is another medical condition that involves high cholesterol levels and high trigycerides that can cause a sudden onset of oily skin and blemishes. Keratosis Pilaris is another medical condition associated with outbreaks of pimples.
These are just a few of the medical conditions associated with adult acne. To make sure an underlying medical condition is not the cause the individual should see their medical practitioner for a medical evaluation of their skin condition. |
