Good hygiene is important for any person, but does not determine if a person has acne or not, that is an age old myth. In some cases for a person with severe acne washing and scrubbing the face can cause irritation and actually make the acne worse.
One of the important things that the person with acne should know is that pimples do not come from lack of hygiene; it is from other factors like stress, hormones, and can even be hereditary.
Proper hygiene when dealing with acne means cleaning the skin with cleansers that contain acne medication such as salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide. These cleansers should not contain oil, over dry the skin or irritate the skin. That is important for keeping the acne from becoming worse than it is currently, and also should not be cleansers that contain perfumes or other irritants like deep cleaning scrubs with ruff particles that can scratch the skin in removal of dead cells. |
