While some spots and scarring left behind from acne breakouts are light and close to the surface there are others that are darker in color and much deeper under the skin. Whereas a chemical peel can sometimes reduce or remove those that are light and close to the surface this is not an effective method for deeper lying scarring and spots.

In order to remove or diminish these spots it is necessary to seek alternative methods in dealing with these occurrences. One method that is sometimes helpful is laser treatment.

Laser treatment is often effective in removing scars and spots resulting from acne breakouts and in most cases the effects are permanent.
Another method of diminishing scars and spots is collagen injections. This method fills in the empty looking scars left behind by acne but it does not produce permanent results. This method requires treatment every three months or so.

The best way to prevent scarring and spots from acne breakouts is to treat acne as soon as possible after it begins to form. Although this is not always possible to do this the sooner you do begin treatments the less likely you will be to have permanent scarring.
