If I Do Stop Using Acne Medicine Can I Start Using It Again? |
Acne Medication should not be stopped unless the acne has been completely cleared for some time and then the same cleaning regiment should be continued. It is important that the regiment is continued since their can still be the risk of infection in the follicles if there is even a slight over production of oil and shedding cells.
If acne medication is stopped and it is a topical treatment then it can be started back up if there is a flare-up or if the acne returns. In the case of antibiotics it should not be stopped until the complete round has been taken unless there is a reason for stopping such as an allergic reaction. A round of antibiotics usually lasts seven to fourteen days.
When the medicine being used is an herbal treatment or a homemade treatment, it can be resumed when needed, although it will take any type of treatment to show results.
Medications or treatments for acne do not work over night and will take time to begin working again once they have been stopped for any length of time and this can mean that acne might have the chance to get out of control. |
