Does Using Vinegar Work To Get Rid Of Acne?

There are different opinions on whether vinegar works to get rid of acne or not.  People have successfully used vinegar to get rid of acne and report a 90% reduction after only a few weeks.  Vinegar is very acidic and can kill off bacteria on the skin.  It can also help to balance out the pH balance of the skin.  Many people use apple cider vinegar, however white vinegar works just as well.

Topically applying vinegar can lower the pH balance on the surface of the skin and in the pores.  It can actually unclog the pores as well.  It is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids which can control the sebum production in the pores.  Alpha-hydroxy acid also aids in exfoliating dead skin cells.

Since dead skin cells and excess sebum can become trapped in the pores and then become infected, it is good to keep these two at a minimum when combating acne.  In this way, vinegar can not only get rid of acne, but it can also prevent further outbreaks.  Vinegar is inexpensive and can always be tried as an alternative treatment to over the counter treatments like bensoyl peroxide.
